A Year in Time - March

I am really enjoying the 'A Year In Time' project' here at Wild About Scrap The G45 range is just so beautiful and eligant! and a must have!! I am totally in love with this collection! and you will be too.

Our little managerie grew recently as my eldest son purchased a cute little puppy! She is so adorable, a little German Shephard born 25 January who has won all our hearts! and bringing much joy to all and growing so fast!

1.  Using the front of the G45 March foundation A Place In Time page I cut and distressed all the edges and adhered it to a piece of matching purple bazzill and added some lavender Say it with Pearls to the swirls in the top corner.
2.  Spritzing a little water to help soften and manipulate the paper I scrunched up and distressed just a small section, placing a small doily behind, adding a tiny Prima flower and butterfly from Collections.
3.  Using the coordinating cut apat from March I chose the patterned floral paper reverse side and used a MS layered arches edge punch, inked the edges with TH distress ink Vintage Photo then placing some pretty scalloped lace over and a small doily in the bottom right corner.

4.  Two 4x3 photos placed slightly angled and overlapping.
5.  Adding a cut down Floral embelishment by Petaloo, blossoms and fabric tulle flower from Prima and a few scattered leaves. Small ribbon bow added to centre, with two more Butterflies from Collections place on either side of floral arrangement.
6.  Finishing off with Weave Extras Teeny Tiny letter stickers 'So Dog Gone' which were inked with TH Vintage Photo and Purple Thickers 'CUTE'.

Most products are available instore at Wild About Scrap or alternatively you can find a similar product in the store, so much to choose from. There is still time to catch up and play along! So please consider joining us, I am really enjoying this wonderful project!

March 2012- A Year In Time

March is my birthday month .. and I have to wait until the very last day to celebrate !!  Last year I enjoyed a wonderful dinner out with my lovely family at a divine Italian restaurant in Glen Waverley.  I decided to use these pics of my husband Craig as they are happy shots !

Love the mauve and purple tones in the March pages - so went with those!!
Here is what I did
1- Used the March Foundation page from Graphic 45 A Place In Time - 8x8 Pad
2- Added a cream doiley heart
3- Cut some strips of green and purple pages in the Core'dinations- 6x6 Vintage Collection and ran them through 3 or 4 different embossing folders- script, music, flourishes, dots .Then I used a scallop square punch to punch out some 'inchies'.  The inchies were distressed to reveal the embossing event more
4- arranged the inchies in a 3x3 pattern - the lighter mauve ones are the reverse side of the purple card.
5- Added my photos, the cute as little postage stamps from the March Cut Aparts Page, The journalling card from the Calendar foundations page and some words form the Sentiments page
6- Using the Want To Scrap - Say It with Pearls - lavender, I added accent to the doiley heart. These were also used in the centre of the flowers
7- I punched some leaves and then painted them with the GORGEOUS Smooch Ink in Kiwi - this gives a beautiful shimmer - which may not show up in the close ups !
8- I arranged some flowers, added some florist wire to make the leave branches - adhered the leaves with glue dots to the wire and page  Tied the bouquet together with some ribbon.
The smooch Ink can be seen better in these photos!
Aren't the postage stamps too cute !!??
I must say purple and green are not usually colours I would normally work with , but it is always good to challenge yourself !! I was determined the make them work !!:)
Might make some cards or something OTP with the leftovers form the Jan Feb and March papers as they are too good bot to use up !!  So watch this blog
Till next time

A Year in Time - February

Hi everyone and welcome to my February page in our A Year in Time album series.

February 2012 was a very busy month for me.  Winter in Sicily was very wet and cold (for me) so I decided to go on vacation.  So following the cheap flights I went first to Prague then Lyon (France) where I visited the most adorable village Perouge, flipping a coin I then went north to Paris before coming back to Sicily where I was fortunate enough to arrive in time for the end of Carnivale.

Prague is the most beautiful city and while I was there it was -20 degrees 2 mornings and about -10 to -12 the other days. Snow everywhere and the river was partly iced over. The ice and snow made walking around a bit more difficult, but for me it was pure magic for my first real snow experience!  The central photo is taken from the famous Clock Tower at sunset.  I love how the sunset picked out the beautiful colours in the stone walls of the church opposite.

Materials used:
  • Graphic 45 A Place in Time 8x8 paper pad - February papers;
  • Graphic 45 Easel Album 8x8;
  • Prima Flowers
  • Denim Ribbon
  • Buttons
  • Want 2 Scrap - Donna Salazar Build-A-Bling
  • Kraft Cardstock;
  • Tim Holtz Distress Inks;
  • Tim Holtz Adage Ticket;
  • Tim Holtz Paper String
  • Graphic 45 Key
The cardstock backing the main photo has been distressed using Tim Holtz Distress Stains & Ink.

See the little envelope tucked behind the left side of the central photo? This can be removed and contains a quick journal card where I've written one word to describe each of the 4 cities. Journalling is at a premium on these smaller journal pages and I would never be able to do justice to this trip.

The envelope was made by using G45 French Country Tags & Pocket as a
template. The flap just tucks behind the button to secure.

Most items used are available instore at Wild About Scrap. I hope you enjoy my page!

A Year in Time - February

February

After spending 14 years at the local primary school in our area, having all three of my older children completing their primary school education there and my baby doing kindy and pre primary, with myself volunteering in the classrooms, canteen, sport carnivals and for quite a number of years on the P&C holding various positions we learnt that we no longer lived in the intake boundary. A new school was built, completed and opened in February this year in one of the many new estates popping up in the area and was to be our new school! How very exciting!

The start of the school year this year meant many changes for all three! My second eldest welcoming his sister into high school, such a big change for her from primary school and my baby starting year one and a new school! I have hidden the journalling in the scroll. We are set for a very exciting, busy and fun year!

This is the second page in my 8x8 Easel Album, I really am enjoying these gorgeous G45 papers. If you head on over to Wild About Scrap store you can grab yourself a pack and maybe join us in our journey - A year in time!

showing scroll open to reveal hidden journalling

 1.  Using the front of the G45 February foundation A Place In Time page and adding some Kaiser blue bling to the swirls to bring in the colour of the photo.
2.  I used Coredinations Whitewash and embossed with cuttlebug script, then sanded and inked with TH Broken China distress ink as my photo mat.
3.  Layered photo onto a paper doily.
4.  Cutting the pattern paper from January cut aparts reverse and using TH Mini Paper Rosettes die I made three small rosettes using buttons for the centres.
5.  Adding some left over Prima sprays, blossoms and Manor House leaves in the bottom left and top right corners.
6.  A tiny scroll hides some journalling and is held closed with some twine tied in a bow.
7.  Finishing off with a few sentiments from the cut aparts in the very back of the pack and small square cut out from April.

If you haven't gone over to Wild About Scrap store yet you will be missing out on all the fabulous products and great specials so remember to call in and have a browse through all the new lines!

If you have decided to join us on this rewarding and fun journey don't forget to drop Veronica an email so we are able to showcase your wonderful layouts too.

We've almost caught up so please pop back and see what March brings :)

A Year In Time - February

My 'A Year In Time' album now has a completed page for February.  Just loved the very vintage feel of the Feb pages in the 8x8 paper pad.. just gorgeous.!!
I stamped using red ink straight onto the kraft album page in the Graphic 45 Easel 8x8Album

A piece of 6x6 card from the Vintage Core'dinations pack already looked "Vintage' so I simply punched the edges to add dimension. I also mounted the photo of my Valentine's Day flowers onto some of the Cored'intations card.

I used the gorgeous floral pattern of the February Cut Aparts page - Graphic 45 - Place In Time- 8x8 paper pad and lots of the divine little cut outs .  Instead of ribbon I used the word strips from the Cut A parts February page and I also added some of the Melissa Frances Pearls Cream to the floral paper.
All of these items can be found in the WILD ABOUT SCRAP STORE

Little extras from my own stash include - metal heart charm and twine, paper roses, punched leaves, glitter lettering.

I am so enjoying this new adventure that Veronica has sent us on with the gorgeous products she has sent !!!

Have you got yourself an easel album yet so you can play along with us ??????
What are you waiting for.. plenty of time to catch up !

Now to think about March :)
